Our UK-based team of mobile app developers can help you grow brand engagement with an intuitive, fast, creative and interactive native app.

Mobile App Development

With people now using smartphones more than desktops or laptops to access the internet, and with app usage on the increase, it could be a good time to invest in a mobile app.

Expert mobile app developers

There’s no question that a strategically conceived mobile app can reap massive rewards when it comes to engaging with your customers or users, but with most people expecting a mobile app to be easier to use than a website or desktop application, it’s important that it’s up to scratch – and that’s where we step in.

We’ll help you not only envisage the concept behind the mobile app, but provide a complete focus on the user-experience, as well as building a world-class software product that is fit for purpose and can scale as your business and user-base grows.

A mobile app needs to have:

  • Intrinsic Intuitiveness
People don’t like unwieldy complexity at the best of times, even less so on a small screen. We’ll help make sure your app makes a current process simpler, otherwise people won’t use it.
  • Engaging UX
This is closely related with simplicity; if the app doesn’t have a great user experience and make it easier for the customer to do something, then no-one’s going to use it more than once.
  • Fast App Load Speed
In an age of real-time, if your new app doesn’t load and react within milliseconds, people will move on to the next one.
  • Scalable
When your app “goes viral” you need to be sure it has been built for scale. For example, DCSL’s project “Hospify” was built for millions of users, and with widespread adoption across the NHS, DCSL has ensured the product lived up to its promise.

Benefits of a mobile app

It’s important to us that you get the right app for your needs, objectives and budget. So why build an app?

  • Interactivity
Native apps can be built to interact with all the features that the phone offers like accelerometer, the camera and GPS.
  • Fewer Limitations
They aren’t limited by a browser and can be used offline.
  • Better User Experience
Mobile apps load and function quicker and more smoothly than mobile browsers or desktop computers.
  • Stickiness
When using a mobile app, visitors tend to spend 3-4 times longer online than they would using a mobile site.
  • Wide Reach
Your app will reside on the Apple App Store and Google Play, so you’ll automatically be getting your app in front of people whose intent is to download an app.

Sometimes the question isn’t whether a mobile app is better than a web app, or vice versa, therefore we also offer the option of a hybrid app which contains a mixture of both mobile and web app functionality.

Mobile app technology and process

At DCSL, we strive for efficiency and value for money for our clients. It’s alien to us to build the same app twice to cater for Android and iOS, so we solve that with cross-platform development.

As a Microsoft Gold Partner, we can use development toolkit called Xamarin that allows us to “write once” in .NET and C# and deploy to Android and iOS. Our solution means that we can write apps that interact with the phone or tablet hardware – for example, the camera, flash, accelerometer, bluetooth and so on – thereby developing genuine native mobile applications created specifically for the targeted platform. The benefit for you is quick, cost-effective development. Some our clients prefer to solve the “write once” problem by using a Javascript solution and DCSL has a great deal of experience with React Native.

Mobile app delivery

Once we’ve delivered your mobile app, we:

  • Launch the app on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
  • Fully transfer the Intellectual Property Rights to you.
  • Provide ongoing support, including an agreed service level agreement (SLA) and access to our in-house developers via our helpdesk.
  • Offer optional hosting (when there is a central database behind the scenes). As a Microsoft Cloud Solution Partner we love Microsoft Azure – but we work with AWS too if you prefer.
