Web Application Databases

Whether you're at the helm of your company or are a time-pressed employee trying to get your job done, the last thing you want is to be slowed down by fiddly software that seems to want to force you into doing something unnatural. So why is it then that so many businesses are still held back by the software that was supposed to make their work easier?

Perhaps they're bogged down by an unwieldy spreadsheet-based customer contact system, or something they cobbled together using Microsoft Access, which worked fine when the business was small, but has now grown into something of a monster.

Or perhaps they have ended up with a 'feature-rich' shrink-wrapped package that seems to do everything apart from the one thing they really need.

Fortunately, business users who might otherwise have lived with this situation indefinitely are now waking up to the growing contrast between what they can achieve with their computers in their personal lives, and what they're able to do at work.

Secure, role-differentiated information access can be extended to different groups of employees - and even to customers, so that they can serve themselves when they want a status update on their account or transaction (just as online banking or courier customers can do already today).

In a browser-based, intelligent, information-ready environment like this, much more can happen too. Rules and workflow can be brought into play, so that automatic notifications are triggered, warning users that an action is overdue, a bill hasn't been paid, or an appointment has been missed.

DCSL Software's specialism in web application extends to a multitude of industry sectors, including:-

Omega ADA

Omega, located in Shrewsbury, commissioned DCSL Software to build a database to store the details of patient deaths so statistical analysis may provide an insight to end of life care standards in the UK.

Brighton & Hove Integrated Care Service (BICS)

BICS is a not-for-profit organisation that process GP patient referrals for over 80 practices in the Brighton & Hove area. Their previous system consisted of a mixture of paper, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and a Microsoft Access database built over several years. Data transfer throughout the process was fragmented, with unmaintainable application code. In turn, this lead to frustration and delays in fulfilling referrals, without means of adding much needed functionality.

BICS contacted DCSL Software in the hope that a detailed list of requirements could be incorporated into one system. Having spent time with BICS to discuss their issues and understand their processes in detail, we supplied a successful proposal that outlined our suggested solution. This consisted of a web-based database application running on the N3 network which enables BICS administrators and GPs to enter patient referrals into a highly intuitive, user role focused system. On top of this, management benefit from an advanced reporting platform allowing detailed analysis of patient referrals and statistics. This helps them monitor the service, identify any issues ahead of time and proactively resolve them before problems occur.
